Our vet work is not free, we get a small discount but not much. Please remember your adoption fee pays for your puppies vet work, food, toys, etc. Plus please remember we have older seniors in rescue who require vet work often. Also please remember we have several un-adoptable (senior, special needs, behavioral problems) dogs ,cats , rabbits and even horses who live the rest of their lives out in their foster homes. So any money we make over from the adoption go's straight back into the unadoptable pets who are paid for out of their foster parents pockets. Keep in mind, too, a private rescue doesn’t get any tax subsidies like your local county shelter. Nor does a private group have a veterinarian on staff
like the county, so all medical services must be purchased. The charges add up quickly. Without adoption fees to help offset these costs, private rescues couldn’t continue to save pets. Vet bills can easily reach $100’s-$1000’s of dollars. Be prepared! Please enroll your dog or cat in pet insurance.
Our Average adoption Fed's start at 125.00 and go up to 450.00 Just according on what vet work needs done.
We on average have a standing vet bill of 1500.00- 2500.00 so each adoption fee go's straight to our vet.
Here is a run down of some of our costs:
Food
Pee Pads
Toys
Collars/leashes
Crates
Vet check/office call
Spay or Neuter
Dental Cleanings (as needed)
Rabies
Distemper/Parvo combo
Heartworm Test (age appropriate)
Flea and heart worm prevention
Deworming
Intranasal bordetella vaccine
Fecal
On top of these services we have often taken in sick and injured dogs that require expensive/extensive treatments (c-sections, amputations, infections, lacerations, mass removals, heartworm treatments, hospitalization, etc..).
